The traditional format of the sitcom is all but extinct. Live studio audiences and laughter tracks have been replaced with more realistic scenarios and darker comedy. And yet the traditional sitcom has proven to be endlessly repeatable and revenue generating even spawning a channel dedicated to the traditional sitcom. If people are still watching them why aren 't we making them?
