Bio
Sue began her career in radio sport at BBC Wales, before moving to London and television as a producer for BBC Sport and Events working across FA Cup finals, Football World Cups, Wimbledon, Six Nations Rugby, Grand Nationals, World and European Athletics Championships, three Olympic and two Commonwealth Games.
Leaving the BBC and moving back to Wales to raise three children, Sue worked as a freelance producer within the independent production sector for BBC and Channel 4 shows. She was part of the host broadcast teams for the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Sue joined S4C in 2015 as lead on the channel’s sports coverage. Since then the channel’s sports portfolio has grown substantially on both linear and online digital platforms. S4C now broadcasts around 500 hours of sport each year.
As commissioner, Sue is responsible for identifying sports content, securing broadcast rights and maintaining editorial and production standards for all sports output both live, and scripted.
She works with sporting governing bodies, including UEFA, World Rugby, the Football Association of Wales and the Welsh Rugby Union, and broadcasters, including Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime, BBC and ITV.
Increasing the range of sports, both women’s, men’s and grass roots, and developing S4C’s platforms to consume this content forms an important part of the current S4C sports strategy.
